Story behind the song
In Pioneer days, a Navajo boy, with hunting implements in hand sets out to establish his prowess as a hunter and gatherer. Walking over mountains and thru valleys, he sees below, in the next valley, a westward wagon train. On the ridge above them he sees many native Americans in full war paint, and mounted with weapons at the ready. He turns around and starts back. In the distance, with game procured, he sees the native Americans file by on their way.
